Founder & Wealth Advisor, Luminvest Wealth Management

Why Luminvest Wealth Management?

I founded Luminvest Wealth Management because I believe investors deserve better. Too often, couples and families go to a wealth management firm for comprehensive advice, and end up getting something that only gets them halfway to their goal. The firm will help with investments, or financial planning, or taxes – but it’s rare to find one firm that truly does it all.

Luminvest Wealth Management is truly comprehensive – We help with financial planning, cash flow management, debt strategy, investment management, tax strategy and preparation, and more.

Relationships matter - Luminvest Wealth Management is a boutique firm because I believe you, my clients, matter. I work with a limited book of business because I genuinely believe that deep relationships, real conversations, and authentic communication lead to better planning.

We're independent - I became an independent advisor to provide the kind of service I would want for myself or my closest friends and family. I don’t believe in committing to just one family of investments, and we don’t give cookie cutter advice. Luminvest Wealth Management is an independent advisory firm that’s unaffiliated with any one particular “group” because I want to create unique solutions for each of my clients based on their individual needs.

The Mission

To empower individuals to live their best lives by providing competent and independent comprehensive financial planning with passion and unwavering integrity.

Proud to be:

A little background on my journey to becoming a financial advisor.

From a young age, I developed a profound interest in managing finances. I started investing in stocks when I was 12 years old using the modest income I earned from delivering newspapers. After I delivered those papers I often read the business, sports, and humor sections, which fueled my growing curiosity about investing. My father and grandfather played instrumental roles in expanding my knowledge of stocks, bonds, ETFs, options, and more.

My late mother also played a pivotal role, instilling in me invaluable money skills and principles like saving for college and embracing charitable giving. Even before I could drive, she inspired me to launch my first business—lawn aeration!  This fueled my entrepreneurial spirit and taught me the value of the dollar.

I've always been fascinated by the power of compounding growth and how money can do good in the world. It's not just about making life more enjoyable by saving for fantastic trips (I love to travel!), but about using money as a force for positive change. That's why, while studying Financial Economics in college, I made up my mind to become a financial planner and help others manage their money wisely.

During and after my formal education, I seized valuable opportunities to expand my knowledge and expertise. I actively sought out practical experiences, both as a volunteer and as a paid income tax preparer. Additionally, I delved into life insurance, initially as a captive agent and later as an independent one. These experiences provided valuable insights into different aspects of financial planning.

Eager to broaden my knowledge further, I pursued a law degree at BYU, passed the bar exam, and obtained esteemed credentials such as the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP) designation and other securities licenses. I later completed a post-law degree from Georgetown, a Tax LL.M. (Master of Laws in Taxation) with a Certificate in Estate Planning.

For more than a decade now, I've been working with high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals, helping them navigate investments and plan for their financial future. Most recently, I managed a book exceeding $1 billion in assets under management for approximately 150 ultra-high-net-worth households that were part of Vanguard’s Personal Advisor Services. Guided by a wealth of experience and knowledge, I am eager to utilize my skills to help you achieve your goals!

On the personal side, here are a few snippets about me:

Wealth Advisor, Luminvest Wealth Management
I traveled many roads on my journey to Luminvest. After securing a dual major in Economics/International Relations at Claremont McKenna College in southern California, I came back to my beloved Arizona where I attended the Thunderbird School of Global Management. I earned an MBA emphasizing International Finance, and more importantly, met my wife Stephanie!

Following graduation, I worked as a grain trader for Continental Grain throughout the Midwest. Once again, the Sonoran Desert called me home! After a brief stint with New York Life as a Brokerage Associate, I worked as a Commercial Loan Officer for First Interstate Bank.

Family duties called, and I joined my father’s small business Firebird Foods, a sales and marketing company. After transitioning my father to retirement, I sold the business and joined Vanguard to pursue my dream of becoming a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and Financial Advisor.

I spent the next 18+ years at Vanguard, starting out as a Brokerage Associate where I broadened my knowledge of individual stocks and mutual funds. I then became a Bond Specialist. Finding success in working with customers with bonds and other fixed income products, I moved up to become a Senior Fixed Income Specialist garnering a very deep knowledge of fixed income markets and even more complex fixed income products and bonds.

When Vanguard started Personal Advisor Services in 2015, I immediately answered the call to put my CFP® designation attained in 2009 to work!

In 2024, having managed a book of business with over 240 clients and approximately $500 million in assets, I made the decision to join Trent at Luminvest. Why Luminvest? My wife asked me some time ago who to turn to if I were to pass. I told her Trent White! So, when Trent offered me the role at Luminvest, I knew I had found a new home!

Sharon

Client Service Associate, Luminvest Wealth Management
I earned my bachelor's degree in German teaching from BYU, where I also worked as a testing program developer for the English Language Center. In this role, I created and managed testing programs, which honed my skills in project management, problem-solving, and attention to detail. This experience laid a strong foundation for my later work in client relationship management and digital marketing, where I’ve focused on streamlining processes and driving growth for small businesses.

After a few years at BYU, I decided to step away from my career to stay home and raise my five children, who are now aged 9 to 19. During this time, I continued teaching online and further developed my organizational and multitasking abilities, balancing a busy household with nurturing my children’s interests in sports and education. With two gymnasts and three basketball players, there’s never a dull moment!

I returned to teach in the classroom for a few years before transitioning into digital marketing, focusing on client relationship management and operations. I’m passionate about enhancing client experiences and am thrilled to now be part of the Luminvest team as a Client Service Associate.

Originally from Colorado, I now reside in Texas with my family. Traveling remains a favorite pastime — Germany, Australia, and China are some of my most-loved destinations — and I always find inspiration in exploring new cultures. When I’m not working or traveling, you can find me on the sidelines cheering at my kids’ sporting events, out hiking or biking, or playing the piano.

Administrative Assistant, Luminvest Wealth Management
I am an Arizona native, and I currently live in San Tan Valley with my husband and 3 children, 2 girls and 1 boy. Music is a big deal in our household. We enjoy singing and having dance parties to our favorite songs in the kitchen. I have a passion for playing the piano and have accompanied several church choirs. In my down time, I love to play card games or snuggle up on the couch with an enjoyable book.

With my work experience and being a mom of young children, I have learned to be attentive to detail and have gained the skill of flexibility. I previously worked for a certified public accounting firm as a front desk receptionist where I performed administrative tasks. Those tasks included collecting and organizing client tax information while keeping client confidentiality.
